1 Corinthians 3

1And I, brothers and sisters, was not able to speak to you as those of the Spirit, but as creatures of flesh—as mere infants in Christ. 2I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, for you were not yet capable of it. Why, even now you are not capable, 3for you are still flesh-driven. For where there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not flesh-driven and walking according to a merely human standard? 4For when someone says, I belong to Paul,” and another, I belong to Apollos,” are you not acting like mere humans?

5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord gave to each. 6I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. 7So then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who causes the growth. 8The one who plants and the one who waters are one in purpose, but each will receive their own pay according to their own labor. 9For we are God’s coworkers; you all are God’s cultivated field, God’s building.

10According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But let each person be careful how they build upon it. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13each person’s work will be made manifest. For the Day will reveal it, because it is disclosed in fire; the fire itself will test what kind of work each person has done. 14If the work someone has built survives, they will receive pay. 15If someone’s work is burned up, they will suffer loss, though they themselves will be saved—but only as one escaping through fire.

16Do you not know that you all are God’s temple-sanctuary and that the Spirit of God dwells in your midst? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple-sanctuary, God will destroy that person. For God’s temple-sanctuary is holy, and that is what you all are.

18Let no one deceive themselves. If anyone among you thinks they are wise in this current age, let them become a fool so that they may truly become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s presence. For it is written, He is the one who catches the wise in their own craftiness,” 20and again, The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are futile.” 21So then, let no one boast in human leaders. For all things belong to you— 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all belong to you, 23and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
