1 John 1
1That which was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our own eyes, what we gazed upon and our own hands handled—concerning the Logos of life— 2and this life was made visible, and we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you this eternal life—the life of the ages—which was with the Father and was made visible to us. 3What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you as well, so that you too may have a shared life with us; and indeed, our shared life is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus the Messiah. 4And we are writing these things so that our joy may be made complete.
5This is the message we have heard from him and report to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have a shared life with him while we walk in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he himself is in the light, we have a shared life with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from every sin. 8If we claim to have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from every injustice. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar, and his Logos is not in us.
