1 Thessalonians 1
1Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the assembly of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.
2We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers, 3unceasingly remembering your work produced by trust, your labor prompted by love, and your patient persistence inspired by the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father. 4For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, your selection; 5because our Good News did not come to you in word alone, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction, just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
6And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, having welcomed the message in the midst of much crushing pressure with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7so that you became a model for all those who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia. 8For from you the message of the Lord has echoed out, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything. 9For they themselves report about us what kind of welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve as slaves to a living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
