Mark 16
1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought fragrant oils so that they could go and anoint him. 2Very early on the first day of the week, just as the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4But looking up, they saw that the stone—which was exceptionally large—had already been rolled back.
5Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were struck with awe-struck terror. 6But he said to them, “Do not be terrified. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, the one who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee; you will see him there, just as he told you.’”
8They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and overwhelming bewilderment had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
