Mark 16

¹When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought fragrant oils so that they could go and anoint him. ²Very early on the first day of the week, just as the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. ³They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” ⁴But looking up, they saw that the stone—which was exceptionally large—had already been rolled back.

⁵Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were struck with awe-struck terror. ⁶But he said to them, “Do not be terrified. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, the one who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. ⁷But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee; you will see him there, just as he told you.’”

⁸They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and overwhelming bewilderment had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
