Matthew 17
Six days later, Jesus takes Peter and James and his brother John and leads them up onto a high mountain by themselves. 2And he was transformed in front of them; his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3And look! Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him.
Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will make three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
While he was still speaking, look! A bright cloud overshadowed them, and look! A voice came out of the cloud, saying: "This is my Son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!"
When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7But Jesus approached and, touching them, said, "Rise up and do not be afraid." 8And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, "Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."
And the disciples questioned him, saying, "Then why do the scholars of the Law say that Elijah must come first?"
He answered and said, "Elijah is indeed coming and will restore all things. 12But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased. In the same way, the Son of Man is about to suffer at their hands." 13Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them about John the Baptist.
When they came to the crowd, a man approached him, kneeling before him 15and saying, "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is moon-afflicted and suffers terribly; he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16I brought him to your disciples, but they were not able to heal him."
Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and twisted generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me." 18And Jesus rebuked the demon and it came out of him; the boy was healed from 그 hour.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why were we not able to cast it out?"
He says to them, "Because of your meager trust. For truly I tell you, if you have trust the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."
While they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be handed over into the hands of men, 23and they will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised." And they were deeply grieved.
When they arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma Temple tax approached Peter and said, "Does your teacher not pay the Temple tax?"
He says, "Yes." And when he entered the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect tolls or taxes? From their own sons or from foreigners?"
When he said, "From foreigners," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are exempt. 27But so that we do not cause them to stumble, go to the sea, throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up. When you open its mouth, you will find a four-drachma coin. Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself."
