Revelation 6
And I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living beings say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2And I looked, and behold—a white horse! The one sitting upon it had a bow, and a victor’s crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and so that he might conquer.
And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living being say, “Come!” 4And another horse went out, fire-red. To the one sitting upon it, power was given to take peace from the earth so that people would slaughter one another, and a great broad-knife was given to him.
And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living being say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold—a black horse! The one sitting upon it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6And I heard what sounded like a voice in the midst of the four living beings saying, “A quart of wheat for a day’s wage, and three quarts of barley for a day’s wage, but do not damage the oil and the wine!”
And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living being say, “Come!” 8And I looked, and behold—a pale-green horse! The name of the one sitting upon it was Death, and Hades followed along with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the great-sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.
And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and because of the witness they had maintained. 10They cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood upon those who inhabit the earth?” 11And a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number was filled by their fellow-servants and their brothers and sisters who were about to be killed just as they had been.
And I watched when he opened the sixth seal, and a great earthquake occurred. The sun became black like hair-cloth sackcloth, and the full moon became like blood. 13The stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its winter-figs when shaken by a great gale. 14The sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place. 15Then the kings of the earth, the magnates, the commanders, the wealthy, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16They say to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
