Revelation 8
And when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in the heaven for about half an hour. 2Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.
Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden incense-burner, and much incense was given to him so that he might offer it with the prayers of all the holy ones upon the golden altar that is before the throne. 4The smoke of the incense went up with the prayers of the holy ones from the hand of the angel before God. 5Then the angel took the incense-burner and filled it with fire from the altar and hurled it to the earth; and there were crashes of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound them.
The first sounded his trumpet, and there occurred hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled to the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green vegetation was burned up.
The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was hurled into the sea. A third of the sea became blood, 9and a third of the creatures in the sea—those having the breath of life—died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11The name of the star is called Wormwood. A third of the waters turned into wormwood, and many people died from the waters because they had been made bitter.
The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, along with a third of the moon and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. The day did not shine for a third of its duration, and the night likewise.
Then I looked, and I heard an eagle flying in mid-heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to those who inhabit the earth, because of the remaining trumpet blasts of the three angels who are about to sound!”
