Romans 14
1Now, welcome the person whose conviction is frail, but not for the purpose of dissecting their private reasonings. 2One person has the faith to eat all things, while the frail person eats only vegetables. 3The one who eats must not look down on the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat must not judge the one who eats, for God has welcomed them. 4Who are you to judge someone else’s household servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And stand he will, for the Lord has the power to make him stand.
5One person judges one day as more important than another, while another person judges every day to be the same. Let each be fully convinced in their own mind. 6The one who observes the day, observes it for the Lord. And the one who eats, eats for the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and the one who does not eat, for the Lord they do not eat, and they also give thanks to God.
7For none of us lives for ourselves, and no one dies for ourselves. 8For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or whether we die, we belong to the Lord. 9For this reason Christ died and came to life: so that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living. 10But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you, why do you look down on your sister? For we will all stand before the judicial bench of God. 11For it is written: “'As I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall offer praise to God.'”
12So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
13Therefore, let us no longer judge one another. Instead, make this your judgment: never to place a stumbling block or a snare in front of a brother or sister. 14I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is ritually common in and of itself; except that to the one who considers something to be common, to that person it is common. 15For if your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer walking in accordance with love. Do not, by your food, destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16Therefore, do not let your "good" be slandered. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of justice and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18For the one who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and respected by people.
19So then, let us pursue the things that make for peace and the things that lead to the building up of one another. 20Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things are indeed clean, but it is an evil thing for a person to eat when it creates a stumbling block. 21It is noble not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything by which your brother or sister stumbles. 22The conviction that you have, keep to yourself before God. Blessed is the one who does not judge himself by what he approves. 23But the person who has doubts is condemned if they eat, because it does not come from conviction; and everything that does not come from conviction is sin.
