Revelation 20

1Then I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, holding the key to the Abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2He seized the dragon—that ancient serpent who is the Slanderer and the Adversary—and bound him for a thousand years. 3He cast him into the Abyss, then shut and sealed it over him, so that he would no longer lead the nations astray until the thousand years were completed. After these things, it is necessary for him to be released for a little while.

4Then I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were given the authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been executed by the axe because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God. These are the ones who had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or on their hands. They came to life and reigned with the Christ for a thousand years. 5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. 6Flourishing and set apart is the one who has a share in the first resurrection! Over these, the second death has no jurisdiction; instead, they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and they will reign with him for the thousand years.

7When the thousand years are completed, the Adversary will be released from his prison. 8He will go out to lead astray the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for the war. Their number is like the sand of the sea. 9They marched up across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the holy ones and the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them. 10And the Slanderer who led them astray was cast into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet were already, and they will be tormented day and night unto the ages of ages.

11Then I saw a great white throne and the one seated on it. From his presence the earth and the sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, which is the Scroll of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the scrolls, according to their deeds. 13The sea gave up the dead within it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead within them, and each was judged according to their deeds. 14Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death: the lake of fire. 15And if anyone’s name was not found written in the Scroll of Life, they were cast into the lake of fire.
