Revelation 4

¹After these things I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice I had heard—like a trumpet speaking with me—said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things."

²At once I came to be in the Spirit, and there before me a throne was set in heaven, with one seated on the throne. ³And the one seated there had the appearance of jasper stone and carnelian, and encircling the throne was a rainbow with the appearance of emerald. ⁴Surrounding the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden victor's wreaths on their heads. ⁵From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder. Before the throne seven torches of fire were blazing—these are the seven spirits of God. ⁶And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, resembling crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, covered with eyes in front and behind. ⁷The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature was like an ox, the third living creature had a face like that of a human, and the fourth living creature was like an eagle in flight. ⁸Each of the four living creatures had six wings, and all around and within they were covered with eyes. Day and night they never cease, saying: "Holy, holy, holy— Lord God, the All-Sovereign, who was and who is and who is coming."

⁹And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanksgiving to the one seated on the throne, the one who lives forever and ever, ¹⁰the twenty-four elders fall before the one seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever. They cast their wreaths before the throne, saying:

¹¹"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and came into being."
